Deformable Object Modeling Using the Time-Dependent Finite Element Method

چکیده
Continuum mechanics and the finite element method are used as basic tools to facilitate the animation of deformable objects. Two unique features in this paper are: (1) introduction of a framework for 3-D finite interface elements to deal with object interaction and (2) a simple approach to handle fracture propagation inside objects. Animation sequences have been constructed, and they indicate that the system is able to provide a realistic depiction of dynamic collision processes between deformable objects and a simple presentation of fracture propagation inside objects. c © 1998 Academic Press

Real-time simulation of dynamically deformable finite element models using modal analysis and spectral Lanczos decomposition methods.
Real-time simulation of deformable objects using finite element models is a challenge in medical simulation. We present two efficient methods for simulating real-time behavior of a dynamically deformable 3D object modeled by finite element equations. The first method is based on modal analysis, which utilizes the most significant vibration modes of the object to compute the deformation field in...

This is done by injecting light into the medium and measuring the photon intensity at the surface of the tissue.Method: In this paper the different medical applications, various imaging and simulation techniques of NIRS imaging is described. ...
متن کاملhp-Spectral Finite Element Analysis of Shear Deformable Beams and Plates
There are different finite element models in place for predicting the bending behavior of shear deformable beams and plates. Mostly, the literature abounds with traditional equi-spaced Langrange based low order finite element approximations using displacement formulations. However, the finite element models of Timoshenko beams and Mindlin plates with linear interpolation of all generalized disp...
متن کاملAccuracy Metrics and Benchmarks for Simulations of Deformable Objects
− There are a number of algorithms for interactively modeling deformable objects, such as soft human tissues. Because of the desire for real-time performance, approximations are made to quickly calculate deformations. This paper proposes accuracy metrics and benchmarks to allow a systematic comparison of simulation algorithms for deformable objects in 2D and 3D. We implement and compare the com...
متن کاملReal-time Global Deformations∗
Real-time simulation and animation of 3D global deformations is the bottleneck of many applications, such as surgical simulator. In this paper, we present a system that simulates physically realistic large deformations of soft objects in real-time. We achieve the physical realism by modeling the global deformation using geometrically nonlinear finite element methods. We achieve real-time dynami...
